In July 2009 the Crisis intervention and Monitoring programme was held by the RCT/EMPATHY together with Georgian Public Defender’s Office.

The monitoring programme was include joint action – monitoring of West Georgian Prisons held by the RCT/EMPATHY experts – doctors and Georgian Public Defender’s Representatives. RCT/EMPATHY’s medical experts were provided experts consultations and general monitoring of Prisons’ health care system in west Georgian Prisons: Kutaisi Prison #2; Geguti Men Colony; Zugdidi Prison #4; Batumi Prison #3. This joint action was held in the framework of the Memorandum signed by the RCT/EMPATHY and Public Defender of Georgia in May 2009 that presents the innovative model of NPM in Georgia.

The pilot monitoring of Psychiatry Hospital in Khoni were the forensic psychiatry department is allocated was held by the RCT/EMPATHY experts as well. The IDP collective living Centre in Kutaisi were the new IDPs are allocated from Kodori Gorge (after the Russian – Georgian War, August 2008) was monitored too.

Totally about 85 person prisoners, patients being on involuntary treatment and IDPs were consulted and interviewed by the RCT/EMPATHY medical experts. The full reports will be submitted to the Public Defender in the end of September 2009 and then will be published on web page too.
