Decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on Cases of the RCT/EMPATHY

In October, 2012 according to the European Court of Human Right’s Decision two cases were won by the RCT/EMPATHY. In the case of Mikiashvili v. Georgia Court made judgment regarding violation of Article 3 in police station and in penal system toward to the indicated client and urge Government of Georgia to pay compensation amount 12 000 EUR to the client. Second case was related to the mentally ill women that were subject of torture and ill – treatment – inadequate medical care — in penal system of Georgia in years 2009 – 2010. Toward to this case according to the friendly settlement: Court Decision was made regarding violation of Articles 3 and 13, also rule 39 was used and according to this Decision Government have to pay compensation amount 3, 500 EUR, also have to provide within three month the new examination with participation of the RCT/EMPATHY experts and according to the request of the RCT/EMPATHY have to make mental health reform in penal system of Georgia.
