Press Release April – May 2013 – RCT/EMPATHY Special Report “Georgian Prison Healthcare System and Mechanisms for the Fights against Torture” (year 2012)

The special report “Georgian Prison Healthcare System and mechanisms for the prohibition of torture” (year 2012) was prepared by the RCT/EMPATHY’s experts, among them NPM experts and submitted to the Public Defender of Georgia in the end of March, 2013.

Report was included in the Public Defender’s Report on Human Rights in Georgia, 2012, www.ombudsman.ge that was submitted to the Parliament of Georgia.

The RCT/EMPATHY’s report, monitoring and crisis intervention program was held in Georgian Prison System in the period from September 18, 2012 (after Georgian Prison Torture Scandal) to March 2013 was provided in the framework of the RCT/EMPATHY’s program: “Integrated Multi – Profile Rehabilitation Programme for Victims of Torture and Fight Against Impunity” with partnership of the Georgian Public Defender’s Office and NPM Georgia , by the financial support of the OSI Foundation, as well as programme and Centre EMPATHY’s activities in years 2012 – 2013 is provided by the UNVFVT, OSI, IRCT/Oak Foundation, PRI (EIDHR Project), CVT (USAID funded project).

On web page of the RCT/EMPATHY now is available the Georgian Version of this Report, English version will be Published by the RCT/EMPATHY in May 2013.
